7 Universal Principles:
- Everything is a differentiation of one Infinity.
- Everything changes.
- All antagonisms are complementary.
- No two things are identical.
- What has a front also has a back.
- The bigger the front, the bigger the back.
- What has a beginning also has an end.
* This is almost exactly as explained by Michio Kushi — but with one fundamental and crucial difference! Kushi (and modern Macrobiotics, at least since George Ohsawa) defines Yin as centrifugal, expansive, outward- and upward-moving; and Yang as centripetal, contractive, inward- and downward-moving. The teachings of Macrobiotics are workable when these definitions are applied — however, in reality, modern Macrobiotics has defined and perceived Yin and Yang as being exactly the opposite of their true natures! 12 Universal Laws of Change:
- One Infinity manifests itself into complementary and antagonistic tendencies, yin and yang, in its endless change.
- Yin and yang are manifested continuously from the eternal movement of one infinite universe.
- Yin is centripetal, contractive, gathering and holding; inward- and downward-moving. Yang is centrifugal, expansive, releasing; outward- and upward-moving. Yin and yang together produce energy and all phenomena.
- Yin attracts yang. Yang attracts yin.
- Yin repels yin. Yang repels yang.
- Yin and yang combined in varying proportions produce different phenomena. The attraction and repulsion among phenomena is proportional to the difference of the yin and yang forces.
- All phenomena are ephemeral, constantly changing their constitution of yin and yang forces; yin changes into yang, yang changes into yin.
- Nothing is solely yin or solely yang. Everything is composed of both tendencies in varying degrees.
- There is nothing neuter.** Either yin or yang is in excess in every occurrence.
- Large yin attracts small yin. Large yang attracts small yang.
- Extreme yin produces yang, and extreme yang produces yin.
- All physical manifestations are yin at the center, and yang at the surface.
